An unexpected message

Mission: Freedom's Legion
Location: DS12

Harrison was alone in his office when the video message from Pallas Cant came in. He wondered why he was receiving it then realised, from the hubbub emanating from Ops, that while he might be watching it alone, he was by no means alone in watching it.

No sooner was it over than he dashed out to Ops.

“Yes, sir,” Lieutenant Stills said, “it was broadcast ship wide. My guess is it was broadcast sector wide. We’re working on finding out the extent of its transmission now.”

“Thank, you Lieutenant. Keep me informed.

He walked back into his office, musing. He pulled up the file on Cant. He had heard of the man, of course. He doubted anyone in Starfleet had not. But he knew little about him. Unfortunately, the official file told him very little and what it did, Harrison suspected was little better than scuttlebutt and third-hand hearsay.

He was about to put a call through to Admiral O’Connell when he remembered the admiral was in some way connected with the delicate Alkaris negotiations. The last thing he would need was a mere captain badgering him.

Then he thought of the Marine Captain, Major Vincent’s cousin. What was his name…. Something like…. He thought hard. Magnus! Yes, that was it.

His finger was poised over the button to request Ops to put him through when he remembered Vincent proudly saying his cousin was lead negotiator with the Alrakis Pact ambassadors. So he’d be even less likely to welcome that call.

You’ll just have to sit back and wait for Starfleet to inform you when it’s good and ready, Nelson, Harrison thought.
